Defending Yourself by Increasing Your Striking Options For Effective Self Defense

If you want to have the greatest chance of defending yourself and surviving an attack, then you must have more than a few tricks up your sleeve. Understanding this concept of having options for effective self defense extends into every facet of your training - from techniques to weapons, and even the ways that you can deliver effective strikes.

My focus in this article is in giving you more options in the area of striking. Having more than one or two ways to punch or kick will go a long way in both doing the most good with the least amount of effort, and...

...keeping your attacker psychologically off-balanced as he struggles to figure out where the next blow is coming from!

Where most students of self defense are concerned, striking training tends to stop with a few ways for striking with the hands and feet. But, this limited thinking not only overlooks many other powerful striking weapons on your body, but it also stays within your assailant's frame of reference.

What I mean by this is that, you're attacker is going to be watching your hands and feet. In other words, if "that's all you've got," then he's already watching for these weapons. And, if he can see it coming, then you're going to have a harder time getting out of there in one piece.

When developing your striking ability, don't overlook other body weapons beyond your hands for punching, and your feet and legs for kicking. Also, to really step "outside the box," get used to striking from inside the conventional striking and kicking ranges employed by most martial arts and self defense systems.

Find out how to add additional body weapons like your:

* Elbows
* Knees
* Head
* Shoulders
* Hips
* etc.

Even the backs of your wrists, as-well-as your chin and your entire torso can be seen, and employed, as striking weapons in the right context in a self defense situation.
