Mixed Martial Arts Training - How To Become Fight Ready In 6 Months

There are many fight opportunities available for up and coming fighters or those just interested in getting in the ring to see if it's for them. But this isn't a tough man competition. This is full on fighting and you should have some solid mixed martial arts training under your belt before belting it out in the ring.

Mixed martial arts training can be accomplished rather quickly if you do things right. With 6 months of mixed martial arts training you could feel confident enough to sign up for a fight.

Here's what you need to do for mixed martial arts training:

1.Stand Up. This includes striking and kicks. A heavy bag is a must, and good instruction on striking and kicking properly is a must. You can learn the basics from a good book or video. After becoming comfortable with the various strikes, seek out a training gym where you can spar. Sparring will show you what you need to work on and improve upon. Each sparring session you will feel more comfortable inside the ring.

2. Ground Game. This refers to wrestling or Ju-Jitsu. It's best to attend a class for this, going at least 2-3 times a week. You will quickly get a good understanding of what being on the ground is all about. If you can find a school which trains both stand up and ground work then this could be ideal. You won't likely learn the intricacies of the Ju-Jitsu game in a short time, but if you are looking to become fight ready in 6 months you will learn the basics on how to handle yourself on the ground.

3. Conditioning, conditioning, conditioning. This is what will make or break you in the ring. Good conditioning can cause an excellent conditioned yet average fighter to beat up a highly trained, yet poor conditioned fighter. Simply put, you need to have the gas in your tank to get in the ring. And remember, this is a rocky, dirt road, so your engine needs to be able to withstand some punishment while continuing to forge ahead and do battle without becoming fatigued. Cardiovascular exercises and sprint type training routines are key to getting conditioned. The best part of this form of training is that you can do this training yourself. There are some excellent MMA conditioning books out there which can turn you into a warrior with seemingly unlimited energy.
