I don't know about you but I am absolutely intrigued by the MMA sport. It is my absolute favorite sport to watch and has been for as long as I can remember. Two guys train for months in the gym for hours upon hours per day to step into the octagon and fight with all they've got!
To some it may seem like a brutal sport, (because its bloody and violent) but these guys are "conditioned machines". Not only do they train in the gym from sun up to sun down every day at the gym, the real champions are programmed to have a strong mental attitude. Not only does it take skill and strength to step inside the octagon and win, it takes the right mental state and a strong mindset.
Think about it for a minute. Two guys are slugging it out. They're bleeding and are tired. The adrenalin is rushing. They're bodies are beat. Yet at the end of the fight the fighter who will have his hand raised is the one who fought just a little harder. They can both have black belts in their fighting style and have just as much and equal skill, yet the winner will be dictated by their mental state when they were inside the octagon.
Urijah Faber is one of my favorite fighters even though he is no longer champion at the time of this writing. In one of his fights he broke his hand in the first round and this was a 5 round fight! Do you think he said to the crowd, "Sorry guys I broke my hand so I can't fight any longer tonight?" Absolutely NOT. He fought with everything else he had. He was in pain. He couldn't use his strong hand to fight. But he didn't stop fighting with all he had for the next 4 rounds. Although he lost by decision he is far from being a quitter and a failure.
How hard are YOU willing to fight for your goals and dreams? Although this may not be a physical fight, it is just as challenging to succeed in business. Everything that's worth fighting for will has great rewards. The fight is never in vain.
Let us learn from these guys. We may find ourselves in the octagon faced with challenge, will you be ready to fight with all you've got? Or will you give up when you break a hand?
